chris & i hope that everyone has had a great beginning to what is sure to be an awesome year! we both worked late new years eve but had a great time new years day. we are going to make it an annual event. we had several friends over for a cook out, games, fun. and the best part: BURNING CHRISTMAS TREES! we had 2 to burn this year but can guarantee there will be MANY next year. very cool to watch & listen to them burn. and so piney fresh... so be on the look out for invitations for new years 2011. you have been given plenty of notice.
we enjoyed the time we had with family for Christmas. although short, it is always cherished. unfortunately, some hogs shortened our visit. but, we saved the area which they tore up Christmas Eve. and we are now down 2 pigs. since then, they have not returned. i think the message was spread that their fate is not good if you step hoof on our land. amy did a great job hosting. she even planned in advance!!! on a side note, chris & i have decided to stay at home this year for Christmas. now that we have our own place to call home and will be settled in, we would like to be here. family & friends are more than welcome! i wanted to share a picture of how we decorated the outside of our new home.
we had a great visit from brian, jess, brandon, sarah, gracey, scout & sky after Christmas. we visited our neighbors (summer & jason) where the kids rode bareback on their pony. then we explored a little on their land. brandon had brought his new bow and target. he showed up brian & i. we decided to go to ft. myers to bass pro and famous dave's for some always yummy ribs.
it's been great getting to know our neighbors. the other night, summer calls me asking to borrow a cup of flour. they are more our age. they have 2 young sons. their youngest happens to be named keagan.
the house is slowly getting put together. with the help of jess, i rearranged some furniture in the office. the flow is much better. eventually, the couch will go and i have decided to get a chair and make a reading nook. i still have a lot of pictures to hang and knick knacks to place. chris got us a new picture for the living room that has 2 horse heads on it. we are still in awe of finally having a home to call ours. we still comment on how blessed we are to be here. there is always something to be done but we love every minute of it. it has been very cold so we have been enjoying fires in our fireplace. i curl up with a book on the floor and read when it is going. chris says there is an art to building a fire. the one time i tried to make one so he could have it when he got home from work fizzled out.
roy is still visiting. he has not had the warm weather that he normally has when he is here. his beach trips are not as often due to the weather and now a further drive. he has been busy with helping around the house. he says when it gets warmer, he will clean my windows for me. i think i have put on a few pounds from all the pies...
looking forward to being up in orlando at the end of january with bailey & will while amy & bill are in new york. always enjoy that time with them. hopefully they will remember it as well.
so here's to twenty ten.. . wishing ya'll a blessed one!
